Dear Friends,
Last night Rob, Lucas, Andrew and I took our dog, Sandy, to the dog park. While we were there, I was admiring all the dogs, and I also noticed the people – young and old, black and white, grumpy and friendly. It was quite an interesting group gathered! Clearly some of the people knew each other and had made arrangements to meet up, while others were just meeting each other for the first time. I left the dog park thinking about the importance of having spaces where we can show up just as we are and find connection and joy.
At First Church, we work at building a beloved community where all are welcome and nurtured. This Sunday we have the blessing of having one of our former youth preaching. Lucas Grove grew up in our church community, and in May, he graduated with his Master of Divinity degree and is on his way to becoming a pastor. It is a blessing that we are part of a community that shapes us and encourages us to listen to God’s voice and where it is leading us.
So, worship with us this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse or online!
Friends, when our world feels topsy-turvy and hope feels hard to come by, come to church. When your heart is bursting with joy, come to church. When you are feeling lonely and scared, come to church. When you want to make a difference in the world, come to church. Our church is a place where we worship, pray, play and share love and joy with one another and the world.
